Micromax, one of the largest smartphone brands in India, has been facing stiff competition from the likes of Xiaomi in India. Xiaomi has gained a lot of popularity, especially among specification-conscious customers, for its online-exclusive business model and high spec'd phone at affordable pricing. Micromax, however, can tap the segment with a higher volume of smartphones, and perhaps extensive marketing campaigns.
That being said, first Yu-branded smartphone will be launched next month. Micromax has already promised that it will honour the warranty of Yu phones even if they've been rooted. Micromax also plans to launch wearable devices – smartphones and smart bands – in the near feature – a move likely to be a huge push to Cyanogen.
