Micromax Dual 5 will be the company's first smartphone to offer a dual rear camera setup. With Dual 5, Micromax is preparing to take on similar offering from Chinese smartphone makers.
Micromax will announce its new camera-centric smartphone named Dual 5 today. The company has scheduled an event in New Delhi at 12 noon and the launch will be livestreamed on its website. This will be the first big launch from the home-grown smartphone maker in a long time.
Micromax has been teasing the 'Dual 5' smartphone on its social media channels for sometime now. The handset is likely to feature a dual 13MP rear camera setup with support for bokeh mode. The handset is also expected to sport a 13MP front camera. A recent Weibo leak suggested that Micromax's next smartphone will offer an all-metal unibody design.
Micromax Dual 5 is also expected to offer 4G VoLTE support and might run the latest version of Android. The company has also reportedly set up more service centers in the past few months apart from increasing its factory output. Micromax has lost significant ground to Chinese smartphone makers Xiaomi, Oppo and Vivo in the Indian market. With Dual 5, Micromax is staging a comeback in the highly competitive smartphone segment.
With dual rear cameras being touted as a big selling point by other smartphone makers, Micromax is following suit. However, the company will have to price its smartphone competitively in order to make a comeback and regain the lost market share.
