Micromax claims 10,000 Yureka units sold in 3 seconds
The Yu Yureka went up for its first flash sale today, with a measly 10,000 units offered against 3 lakh registrations.
The much talked about Yu Yureka smartphone has gone out of stock in three seconds, or so Micromax claimed on Twitter. It is worth noting that according to the company, the 10,000 users that added the Yureka units to their cart in the first three seconds, have all paid for their respective units. The company said that this is why the Waitlist that Amazon had, has not come into play.
Further, users who couldn’t buy the Yu Yureka this time will not have to re-register for the device. While it is not confirmed yet, if the company does follow the flash sale model to the T, then registrations should begin again very soon.
Update: Yu tweeted announcing that the next sale is from 22 January.
That said, Yu’s feat isn’t very surprising, considering the low number of units that had been offered in the flash sale. Chinese smartphone maker, Xiaomi, which had started the flash sale trend, has often taken flak over the number of devices that it offers. Xiaomi though has been increasing its numbers over time. Not surprisingly, Micromax co-founder Rahul Sharma had avoided talking about the number of units at the launch of the device.
