It seems 13MP cameras on the back and front weren’t enough for Micromax, the company has now launched the Micromax Canvas Selfie Lens, a device that comes with a clip-on wide angle lens on the front. The smartphone will cost Rs. 8,299 with a bundled 500MB of 3G data from Vodafone for the first two months after purchase. Micromax will sell the device through both online and offline channels in White, Moondust Grey as well as Champagne colour variants. The homegrown smartphone maker also sells another selfie centric smartphone, known as the Canvas Selfie.
Think you’ve heard this before? Another homegrown smartphone maker, iBall recently did this with its Cobalt 4 smartphone, although the iBall mSLR Cobalt 4 has removable lenses for the rear camera.
The Canvas Selfie Lens smartphone comes with a 0.4x clip-on wide angle lens, which the company says, will allow users to click better selfies. The device’s front camera stands at 5MP, along with an 8MP rear camera. The Canvas Selfie Lens is powered by a 1.3 GHz Quad-core processor with 1GB of RAM. It has a 5 inch HD display along with 8GB of internal storage, which can be expanded to 32GB. It runs on Android 5.0 Lollipop and has a 2800 mAh battery.
This comes a week after Micromax launched its slimmest ever smartphone in the Canvas Sliver 5. That device is priced at Rs. 17,999 in what could be Micromax’s most overpriced smartphone till date.
