Bhavesh Virani, 28, was found with 11 iPhones X packed pieces at Mumbai airport. He was arriving from arriving from Hong Kong.

A case has been registered against 28-year-old Bhavesh Virani who was caught with 11 iPhone X’s at the Mumbai airport. “We suspect many people would visit Hong Kong to purchase the phones and bring them to the country. Passengers can bring duty-free goods worth Rs 50,000. The demand is high in India for the phones, but the supply is less, which paves the way for smuggling.” said a senior AIU officer privy to the investigation, reports HT. The packed phones were being carried in Bhavesh’s hand bag. He was however not arrested as the total value of the goods was less than 20 lacks.

“Gadget freaks are ready to pay extra to get the latest brand and model. We have kept a watch on certain international routes from where we suspect the phones will be brought to the country.” said the officer.

The iPhone X (ten, not X) went on sale in India on 3rd November. The smartphone sports a 5.8-inch Super Retina Display at a resolution of 2436 x 1125 pixels. It is powered by a new A11 Bionic processor, which features a neural engine and enables the working of the new Face ID feature. The iPhone X comes with an all glass rear, wireless charging, and is water and dust resistant. In terms of optics, the smartphone features a 12MP dual-rear camera setup with OIS. It sports a 7MP TrueDepth front facing camera with support for portrait mode.
