LG X Venture, the second smartphone in the company's 2017 X lineup, is now official. The LG X Venture is a rugged smartphone designed to resist extreme temperatures and shock. It comes with IP68 water and dust resistance, and is also 14 MIL-STD 810G certified.
On the hardware front, the LG X Venture is a mid-range smartphone with 5.2-inch full HD LCD display and Snapdragon 435 chipset. It comes with 2GB RAM, 32GB onboard storage expandable via microSD cards. Being a device aimed at users with an active lifestyle, it houses a 4100mAh battery that LG claims can last up to 24 hours. It also supports Quick Charge 2.0 that can charge from 0 to 50 percent in just 48 minutes.
The LG X Venture sports a 16MP rear camera and a 5MP front camera with 120-degree wide-angle selfie. It runs Android 7.0 Nougat and offers a dedicated side button called QuickButton to activate the company's new Outdoor Essentials app. The app shows weather information, barometer and compass data, fitness data like step count, calories burned and distance travelled. It can also be used turn the flashlight on or off.
The QuickButton not only serves to open the Outdoor Essentials app but can also be used to open settings menu with a long press or activate Glove Mode with a double press. Users can also remap the function of this QuickButton to open their own favourite apps. The smartphone will first go on sale in North America, followed by Europe, Asia, Africa, Latin America and the Middle East. There is no word on pricing or exact date of availability.
