Highlights

  • LG V50 ThinQ to be company's first 5G phone
  • Leaked renders show Sprint branding
  • LG V50 ThinQ to be unveiled at MWC 2019

Prominent leakster, Evan Blass (@evleaks) just tweeted out a photo of the LG V50 ThinQ. What’s surprising about this picture is the 5G Sprint logo it flaunts. LG will allegedly bring the LG V50 ThinQ to the Mobile World Congress 2019, alongside the LG G8 ThinQ. There had been rumours of the LG V50 ThinQ, but now we finally have renders as well.

The LG V50 ThinQ is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 chipset which will be cooled using a vapour chamber. The chipset will be accompanied by an additional X50 5G modem. We can tell from the renders that it sports 3 rear cameras and two on the front. The front panel also shows a time of 9:00 am and a date of February 24, the date when LG is expected to unveil both its new flagships for the G and V series.

LG and Sprint had announced their partnership way back in 2018, the purpose of which was to develop and deploy 5G capabilities for Sprint, along with bringing LG’s 5G devices to the carrier. 5G is a big bet for most carriers and OEM makers this year. Alongside LG, Samsung is expected to unveil a 5G variant of the Samsung Galaxy S10 as well. OnePlus had announced a while back that they will launch a 5G smartphone this year. OnePlus is expected to show off the 5G prototype of its next flagship at MWC as well.
