LG is going all out with its technology at CES 2013. The Korean electronics manufacturer will show off high-resolution displays ranging from a mere 4.7-inches up to 84-inch behemoths.
The 4.7-inch display that LG will show off at CES will have a bezel that’s only about 1mm thick. Devices that will use this new display will be a lot slimmer than the current 4.7-inch display smartphones.
Next we have the 5.5-inch (1920×1080) phablet display. With a full HD resolution, the pixel density of the new 5.5-inch LG display will be 403ppi. The iPhone 5, which has a 4-inch display, has a resolution of 640×1136 giving its display a pixel density of 326ppi. The Samsung Galaxy Note II, which is the current market leader as far as phablets are concerned, has a 5.5-inch display with a resolution of 720×1280 giving it a pixel density of 267ppi.
LG will also show off a 7-inch screen with a 1920×1200 resolution giving it a 324ppi pixel density. Currently we have seen the Nexus 7 and the Kindle Fire HD, which has a 1280×800 resolution giving it a 216PPI.
We can also expect to see a 12.9-inch QSXGA display with a 2560×1700 resolution. This display is targeted at ultrabooks. To put things into perspective, the 13-inch (display size is 13.3-inches) MacBook Pro with a Retina Display has a resolution of 2560×1600. We also expect to see 13.3-inch laptop displays with a 2mm bezel making them ultra slim.
All the above-mentioned displays will use AH-IPS (advanced high performance in-plane switching) display technology. Apart from smartphones and tablets; LG also has TV displays to show off this year at CES 2013.
LG plans to bring UHD (Ultra High Definition) TVs with a 3840×2160 pixel resolution. The display will be shown off in 55-inches, 65-inches and 84-inches. These TV’s will use LG’s FPR 3D tech. A 4K2K 30-inch PC monitor packs even more pixels – 4096×2160 will also makes its debut at the event.
LG’s 55-inch WRGB OLED TV, which was shown off at CES 2012, will also make an appearance at CES 2013. The TV has a 4mm bezel and weighs a mere 3.5kg.
