LG has announced that it will be unveiling the Stylus 2 smartphone at the Mobile World Congress event in Barcelona. The phone comes with a 5.7-inch HD display and is powered by an unspecified quad-core processor clocked at 1.2GHz with 1.5GB of RAM. At the back is a 13MP primary camera, while at the front is a 8MP camera. The device is equipped with 16GB of onboard storage, which is expandable via a microSD card. It also has a 3000mAh battery and runs Android Marshmallow v6.0.

As the name suggests, the Stylus 2 comes with a stylus that has a ‘nano-coated’ tip, which LG claims to be more accurate than a rubber-tipped stylus. The Stylus 2 also comes with a number of proprietary functions that are developed for phone. This includes Pen Pop, which toggles a popup menu that displays shortcuts to Pop Memo and Pop Scanner when the stylus is removed. The Pen Keeper feature displays a message if it detects that the phone is in motion and the stylus bay is empty, which reduces the chance of a stylus being misplaced. Juno Cho, President and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company says, “LG Stylus 2 provides both the big screen and premium notetaking functions of a premium large phone at a price of a mid-tier phone. This device is another example of our commitment to the mass-tier segment where there is so much opportunity for growth and creativity.”

Yesterday, LG announced that they will also be launching a new ‘X’ series of devices at the MWC, namely the X cam and the X screen. The devices were aimed at those who do not want all the features found in expensive phones, but may like to have one exceptional feature on affordable smartphones. The company will also be unveiling their new flagship phone, the LG G5 at the event.
