LG is rumoured to skip the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean update for some its smartphones and is planning to update them with the latest Android 4.4 KitKat.
In addition, there are also rumours that some of the smartphones in the LG lineup will also skip the Android 4.2 Jelly Bean update and jump from 4.1 directly onto the 4.4 version. Smartphones expected to get the KitKat release with the next major update include LG Optimus F3, LG Optimus F6, LG G Pad 8.3, LG G Pro Lite, LG Optimus F7, LG Optimus L9 II, LG Optimus Vu II, LG Vu III including a couple more models like LG-D315 and LG LS740.
The report also claims that the LG Optimus 4X HD will still be stuck with Android 4.1.2 Jelly Bean OS as it seems it has completed its software upgrade cycle. However, there is no official confirmation at the moment.
Meanwhile, LG G Pro, previously called Optimus G Pro, is reportedly getting its very own QuickWindow Cover, in addition it is also believed that the smartphone will also get software features from LG G2 such as KnockOn, most likely with the Android 4.4 update. The QuickWindow cover will function identical to the way it used to with the LG G2.
These features will require software updates and Korea is likely to be the first place to get it. However, bearing in mind the fact that the G2 is sold globally, a global update roll out shouldn’t be a very distant possibility.
