LG’s mid-range LTE-enabled Optimus F5 smartphone, initially available in France, will roll out in South and Central America, Asia and Eastern Europe over “the next several weeks”.
LG had showcased the Optimus F5 just before the Mobile World Congress event alongside the Optimus F7. The company still hasn’t, however, revealed its plans with regard to availability of the F7.
The LG Optimus F5 has a 4.3-inch IPS (256ppi) display. It runs Android 4.1.2 and is powered by a 1.2GHz dual-core Qualcomm processor. There’s a 5.0 MP rear camera and 1.3MP front camera. The smartphone comes with 8GB of on-device storage and 1GB of RAM. The Optimus F5 is powered by a 2,150mAh battery.
The smartphone also features LG’s QSlide, which allows users to open multiple apps at the same time in full screen with the ability to customise size, position and transparency of the windows. There’s Live Zooming that allows users zoom in on videos. Also, it comes with QTranslator function that supports 44 different languages.
“LG has consistently set the standard in the mobile industry with technology that complements, not complicates, users’ lives,” says Dr. Jong-seok Park, president and CEO of LG Electronics Mobile Communications Company.
“The Optimus F5 is a natural extension of LG’s lineup of strong LTE devices, offering the lightning-speed of 4G LTE and UX features of a premium phone. With the Optimus F5, we’re confident we can capture an untapped market of new and upgrading smartphone users who crave a feature-rich, LTE device.”
The exact pricing of the Optimus F5 hasn’t been revealed yet. The USP of the smartphone is that it supports LTE, which means smartphone may be only available in countries that have 4G operating networks.
