LG releases a value pack update for the Optimus G Pro
LG has released a value pack for the Optimus G Pro phablet that brings a few new features such as smart video, dual camera and pause and resume recording.
The recently launched LG Optimus G Pro is receiving an update. Called the “Value Pack” update, it was originally announced in March. Initially the update was for the Korean version of the smartphone/phablet and now it is hitting AT&T subscribers in the US. There is no word on when the Value Pack will hit global customers. Here is a look at the features the Value Pack brings to the G Pro:
To start with, the G Pro will get Smart Video. This is that same feature that we have seen on the Samsung Galaxy S4 with Smart Pause. Smart Video will recognize the position of a user’s eyes and automatically pause the video when the user looks away and resume the video when the user looks at the device.
Again, taking a leaf from Samsung’s book, the Optimus G Pro Value Pack update brings with it a Dual Camera feature. The feature is an extension of the Dual Recording feature. It lets users simultaneously capture photos from both the front and the rear-facing camera in a picture-in-picture composition.
Another feature added to the camera app of the G Pro is the ability to pause and resume recording a video so you have one single video file rather than the multiple files we get when we want to pause recording for a bit.
The update also brings with it the ability to use the phablet as a remote control for LG Smart TVs released in 2012 and after. You can also use the G Pro for text input on the LG Smart TVs.
More of an aesthetic feature, but you can now customize the colour of the LED notification on the G Pro to suit your requirement. Additionally, users can now select from 800 colour emoticons when texting or emailing.
One glance at the features on offer with the smartphone and you will realize that the LG Optimus G Pro is gunning for the audience that has taken a fancy to the features offered by the Galaxy S4. Some of these features have made an appearance on other Samsung devices such as the Galaxy Mega, Note II and more.
The LG Optimus G Pro boasts of a 5.5-inch 1080p HD display. It runs on a 1.7GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 600 processor along with 2GB of RAM. It has 32GB built-in storage expandable up to 64GB via a microSD card, a 13MP rear camera and a 2.1MP front-facing camera. The device runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean straight out-of-the-box. The smartphone is 9.4mm in thickness and is powered by a 3140mAh battery.
