LG G7 ThinQ to feature 6.1-inch QHD+ display with 1000 nits screen brightness
HIGHLIGHTS

The LG G7 ThinQ will feature a notch on top of its LCD display. LG has teased the device to have the "brightest and most vibrant display" in the market

The upcoming LG G7 ThinQ smartphone will launch on May 2 and ahead of the launch, the company has confirmed a major spec of the device. The company says that the smartphone will feature a 6.1-inch QHD+ (3120 x 1440p resolution) display with a maximum brightness of 1000 nits and have the "brightest and most vibrant display" in the market. This certainly means that the LG G7 ThinQ will sport the brightest display made by LG till now, but current flagships like the Galaxy S9 Plus have been found to come with display brightness exceeding 1000 nits (745 Lux in our tests). The G7 ThinQ's display is also said to covers 100 percent of the DCI-P3 colour gamut.

Further, LG has announced that the phone will feature a 19.5:9 display aspect ratio, which is the same as the iPhone X, but taller that the company’s 2:1 ratio display on the LG G6. The G7 ThinQ's display will also feature “almost 50 percent slimmer” bottom bezels as compared to the G6, and as previous reports stated, it will come with a notch. The G7 ThinQ is said to come with a curved tempered glass LCD display, which is somewhat surprising as the company used an OLED display on the LG V30, but then again, LG is known for manufacturing good quality LCD panels.

The LG G7 ThinQ was previously leaked in press renders by Evan Blass, showing the display notch, a dedicated Google Assistant button and more. It is seen with a 3.5mm audio jack and will feature rounded corners, and a vertically stacked dual-rear camera with the fingerprint sensor placed immediately below. On the front, the notch houses the earpiece and the front camera. A dedicated physical button for the Google Assistant was also spotted on the left edge of the device. In terms of specifications, the G7 ThinQ smartphone could be powered by Qualcomm’s latest Snapdragon 845 SoC with 4GB RAM and 64GB of internal storage. It was spotted on the benchmarking website AnTuTu, where it scored 2,52,473, which is up in the flagship range.

LG is also rumoured to launch the LG V35 ThinQ alongside the LG G7 ThinQ, which is expected to be the successor to the company’s recently launched V30S+ ThinQ smartphone. According to an earlier report, the LG V35 ThinQ could feature a 6-inch QHD+ OLED display with a taller 18:9 display aspect ratio and an 80-percent screen-to-body ratio, and not come with a notch on the display. It is said to come in Black and Grey colour options at the time of launch, with a “premium glossy finish.”

In the camera department, the smartphone is said to feature an upgraded dual 16MP rear cameras one of which is said to be a ‘standard’ camera with a glass lens, f/1.6 aperture and 10-bit HDR compatibility, whereas the other one is tipped to be a wide-angle lens with a 107-degree field-of-view. The main cameras will also come with features like quickly switching between the two lenses, “AI Cam,” and Google Lens support at launch. There will also be a Super Bright Mode and “superpixels” for capturing better images in low-light conditions.

Both the LG V35 ThinQ and the G7 ThinQ are said to make heavy use of AI in areas like image processing and dynamic scene adjustments while capturing photographs. In terms of audio, the device is said to come with a same 32-bit Hi-Fi Quad DAC setup as its predecessor, but with extra enhancements and digital filters. It may also include far-field mics to capture a user’s voice better from a distance.
