LG G6 leaked pictures confirm slimmer bezels and metal unibody design
LG G6 won't be modular and features a metal and glass unibody construction
LG G6 is expected to be one of the first smartphones to be powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 835 processor. The smartphone is likely to be showcased at company's Mobile World Congress event on February 26. Ahead of the official announcement, The Verge has gotten hands on the first image of the upcoming flagship smartphone.
LG has already confirmed that its next flagship will ditch the modular design seen on G5 and feature a metal and glass unibody construction. The flagship is also expected to trim down on bezels and use a new 5.7-inch Quad HD+ display with a resolution of 2880 x 1440 pixels. LG Display has already confirmed the production of this display with an unusual aspect ratio of 2:1 and minimal bezels.
The Verge notes that G6 will come with a screen-to-body ratio of greater than 90 percent and sport bezels on the top and bottom. The smartphone is expected to take design cues from Xiaomi's Mi Mix with thin bezels and curved display corners. In addition, the LG G6 is expected to be waterproof and retain the 3.5mm audio jack. LG is also likely to go with the same dual rear camera setup like the G5 and V20. There will be a rear mounted fingerprint sensor as well.
LG has always been under the shadow of Samsung in the flagship smartphone space. With Samsung having confirmed the absence of its flagship at MWC this year, LG gets that much needed head start in the 2017 smartphone race.
