After falling short of expectations with the G2, LG is working on its next flagship smartphone that may come with an octa-core processor and quad HD display.

Information about LG’s next flagship Android smartphone has emerged on the web. According to reports, the smartphone, dubbed LG G3, will feature a 1,440 x 2,560-pixel quad HD (2K) display.

There’s no info on the display size yet. It’s notable the LG G2 featured a 5.2-inch 1080 x 1920 display. The LG G3 is expected to have a 16MP rear camera and an octa-core processor. According to reports, LG may launch the successor to the G2 in the second half of 2014.

LG’s G3 will be competing against the future flagships from the rivals. LG’s current flagship has struggled as the company could sell 2.3 million units so far, far below LG’s target of 3 million units.

Samsung’s next flagship Android smartphone, dubbed Galaxy S5, is rumoured to be available in the second half of 2014. Rumours suggest Samsung’s next flagship will have a 5.25-inch QHD AMOLED display.

It is rumoured to feature 64-bit Exynos chipset or a Snapdragon chipset; 3GB of RAM, a 16-megapixel camera, a 4000mAh battery and Android 4.4 KitKat with TouchWiz UI on top. Check out Samsung Galaxy S5: The most interesting rumours out there
