HIGHLIGHTS

The much rumoured and anticipated phone from LG, the G2 has finally launched and while it does pack an impressive set of features, its actually the design that sets it apart.

After an incredibly high amount of leaks and rumours, the LG G2 is finally official. The phone was announced at an event in New York earlier today and comes with a rather impressive feature set.

The G2 has a 5.2 inch display, which according to LG, is the largest display that’s operable by a single hand. This they have managed to achieve by minimizing the bezel (a mere 2.5mm). The screen itself is an IPS panel with a display resolution of 1080×1920. The phone also packs the much anticipated Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 processor with its four-cores clocked at a whopping 2.2 GHz with 2GB of RAM for as much throughput as the phone may require. The phone comes with 16/32 GB of onboard storage along with a 13 megapixel rear camera and a 2.1 megapixel front facing camera.

The most unique aspect about the phone is not the processor or the camera, but the fact that LG’s tried to change up the design language we are so used to, and placed the home and volume buttons on the back of the phone. This, the company says, is because the back of the phone is where the users’ hands and fingers rest more naturally. It should be interesting to see just how intuitive the buttons are.

As far as availability goes, LG has this to say “Following the global launch event in New York City on August 7, the LG G2 will be rolled out in over 130 wireless carriers in the next eight weeks starting in South Korea followed by North America, Europe and other key markets. Specific dates for market availability will vary by region and carrier.”
