LG is looking for your opinion on the infamous, but now popular notch display. Previous reports suggested that LG already scrapped its plans for its flagship smartphones once this year, and it seems like the compnay isn't sure about the design of its future smartphone till now. In a recent attempt to gauge public opinion, LG posted a question on Reddit asking them about what they think about the notch on smartphone displays. While it could just be in the wake of the mixed public opinion OnePlus is getting after it revealed that the upcoming OnePlus 6 will have a notch, LG could also be looking to preempt its own justification of slapping a notch on its upcoming flagship phone.
LG's Reddit post has attracted more than 500 comments, and while some community members understand the notch situation, some are just outraged by it. As of now, the post has been locked, but you can check out the comments here.
LG's upcoming flagship, rumoured to be codenamed ‘Judy’, may feature a notch. The company did not announce the phone at MWC this year like it does every year. Instead, plans were reportedly scrapped and the Vice Chairman of LG Electronics, Cho Sung-Jin, said that the company will launch new phones only when it is needed. That said, Ynet reported seeing an LG phone at the event with the notch. The device in question is reportedly called the LG G7 Neo. Rumour is that this might be the flagship phone for the year after all. LG might just be waiting it out since it was reported that the entire first batch of Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 chipsets was bought by Samsung for the Samsung Galaxy S9 and S9+.
If the rumours surrounding the LG flagship phone are to be believed, It will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 845 SoC, featuring 6GB RAM and 128GB internal storage. The device will most likely feature an 18:9 aspect ratio display and dual cameras at the back. Plenty of leaked renders support the idea that the phone might feature the notch on the display as well, but maybe LG might re-scrap the idea if it is willing to take public opinion seriously.
