LG has announced two new Optimus smartphones for India, destined to arrive very soon in the market. Both devices, LG Optimus 2X (left) and Optimus Black (right) were introduced early this year at CES 2011, and each is remarkable in its own way. For now, LG has only given approximate prices – the Optimus 2X will be retailing soon for around Rs. 30,000, while the Optimus Black, yet to release globally, will retail a little later for around Rs. 27,000.
The LG Optimus 2X (P990) when introduced was the world’s first dual-core smartphone, and though many more have been introduced since then, as it stands, the Optimus 2X will get the title “India’s first dual-core smartphone” as well. Bearing a 4-inch screen and a 1GHz dual-core Nvidia Tegra 2 processor, the Optimus 2X has 512MB RAM, 8GB onboard storage, and an 8MP camera that is capable of 1080p HD video recording. The device has a gyroscope as well, for more gaming interfaces. Find more detailed specs in the comparative chart at the end of the article…
[RELATED_ARTICLE]The LG Optimus Black (P970) made waves when it was first introduced at CES 2011 with its ultra-slim form factor of just 9.2mm (slimming down to 6mm at its thinnest), as well as its 4-inch IPS LCD screen, that LG called the Nova display. The Nova display was so named because of its incredible brightness, rated at over 700 nits. Surprisingly, the super-bright screen also delivers a great battery life, twice as good as conventional AMOLED technology. It too has a 1GHz processor, though single core, 512MB of RAM, and 2GB internal storage. Apart from recording 720p HD video with its 5MP camera, it also has a 2MP front-facing camera for video calls.
Both phones will ship with Android 2.2 Froyo onboard, but are destined for Android 2.3 Gingerbread updates. In the press release, LG mentioned it would be launching 10 more Optimus models in the next six months – can’t wait! Find comparative specifications below:
