Lenovo’s 4G smartphones selling like hot cakes, 3 million units sold in 1 year
Lenovo has sold 3 Million 4G enabled smartphones over a period of 1 year due to rising demand for LTE services in the country
Smartphone manufacturer Lenovo has claimed that it sold a total of 3 Million 4G enabled smartphones in India, in the last one year. According to a report by wire service PTI, Lenovo has been cashing in on the rising demand for high-speed internet services in India.
The boost in sales of Lenovo's 4G smartphones can be attributed to network providers like Airtel and Reliance Jio, which have been pushing out their LTE services in selected cities across the country.
Lenovo India Director, Sudhin Mathur also claimed that approximately 6,00,000 units of Lenovo-Motorola smartphones were cummulatively sold during Flipkart's Big Billion Days Sale, which was live till October 17.
For those of you who don't know, Lenovo completed the acquisition of Motorola Mobility in October last year, becoming the world's third largest mobile manufacturer. According to research firm IDC, Lenovo now stands at No. 5 in the Worldwide Smartphone Vendor Market Share, as of the second quarter of 2015.
Lenovo is also on an expansion spree in India, as the company has announced the addition of 50 exclusive Lenovo-Motorola service centres by November 11. The company plans on increasing that number to 100 by mid-2016.
Last week saw the launch of the Lenovo P1 and P1m. Both devices are LTE/4G enabled and come with huge 5,000 mAh & 4,000 mAh batteries respectively. The Lenovo Vibe P1 is priced at Rs. 15,999 while the Lenovo Vibe P1m is priced at a mere Rs. 7,999.
The Lenovo Vibe P1 comes with a 5.5-inch Full HD display with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 Protection. Under the hood it has a Qualcomm Snapdragon 615 SoC coupled with 2GB of RAM. The rear of the smartphone has a 13MP camera and the front has a 5MP camera.
The Lenovo Vibe P1m comes with a 5-inch HD display. Under the hood, the P1m has a MediaTek MT6735P SoC coupled with 2GB of RAM. The rear has an 8MP camera with a 5MP front facing camera.
Both devices run on Android Lollipop v5.1 and have Lenovo's own UI overlaying it.
