Lenovo has been teasing the launch of ZUK edge for quite sometime and now the company has announced that the device will launch on December 20. Lenovo VP confirmed the launch on Weibo where the event is expected to kickoff at 2PM local time.
Lenovo ZUK Edge has garnered a lot of attention since its first teaser went out last month. Lenovo ZUK Edge was initially conceived to feature a curved display but the leaked images hint at smartphone getting 5.5-inch flat display and thinner bezels. There is a possibility that the word 'Edge' might mean some software feature but at this moment, things are not really clear.
Lenovo ZUK Edge is likely to become the cheapest smartphone with Qualcomm Snapdragon 821 chipset when it launches on December 20. The smartphone is expected to come with 6GB RAM and 64GB storage. The ZUK Edge is also likely to run Android 7.0 Nougat out of the box.
Lenovo ZUK Edge reportedly sports a 13MP primary camera and an 8MP secondary camera. The smartphone is also expected to sport a fingerprint sensor embedded into the home button. The smartphone will be available on JD.com in China, where the e-tailer has already listed the device without much details.
Lenovo ZUK Edge is likely to compete with OnePlus 3T, the smartphone conceived as the best in the sub-$450 price category. The leaked specifications of ZUK Edge does suggest that Lenovo is more or less matching OnePlus 3T here but we will have to wait for the final price and see if Lenovo has anything to differentiate the device in the extremely crowded smartphone space.
