Lenovo is hosting a launch event on March 15, where the company is expected to launch its Vibe K5 and K5 Plus smartphones. The new K5 smartphones were showcased last month at MWC 2016. At launch, the Lenovo Vibe K5 and K5 Plus smartphones are aimed at the budget segment, and were priced at $129 (Rs. 8,800 approximately) and $149 (Rs. 10,200 approximately). Both devices offer 4G LTE connectivity, and were launched in three colour options.
The new Lenovo Vibe K5 is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 415 SoC. It is coupled with 2GB of RAM and 16GB of internal storage. It features a 5-inch display with 1280×720-pixel resolution. There is a 13MP camera at the back and a 5MP camera at the front. The rear camera is also aided by an LED flash. The phone has a metal build, and features a 2750mAh battery inside. The Lenovo Vibe K5 Plus, on the other hand, features a similar spec sheet, but the 5-inch display sports a 1920×1080-pixel resolution, and it is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 SoC, instead of the 415. Both the Lenovo Vibe K5 and K5 Plus come with dual-SIM capabilities, supports USB on-the-go, and the audio is powered by Dolby. The phone also has an FM radio.
We expect that the upcoming phones will be priced around or below the Lenovo Vibe K4 Note. The K4 Note sports an octa-core MediaTek processor and fingerprint sensor, and is currently available in India for Rs. 11,999. Lenovo has included the TheaterMax technology on the phone, which enables users to experience virtual reality using the ANT VR headset, separately sold for Rs. 1,299.
