Lenovo K4 Note launched, here’s how it compares with competition
Lenovo K4 Note launched with Mediatek 6753 SoC, 3GB RAM, 16GB storage and stereo speakers. We compare the specifications and features of the new Lenovo K4 Note with the current competition.
After months of teasing, Lenovo has finally taken the covers off of the Vibe K4 Note. While the phone does come with slight improvements in the specs sheet, the company has retained the “Killer Note” name tag. The price has also changed and the new Lenovo Vibe K4 Note will cost you Rs. 11,999. Lenovo will also be selling the ANTVR alongside the K3 Note for Rs. 1,299 and you can buy both in a bundled offering for Rs. 12,499. The ANTVR is a VR headset for the lenovo K4 Note. It will be available via a flash sale model and only via e-commerce website Amazon. The first sale will be held on January 19, and pre-bookings for the phone will be starting from 3PM today.
As teased, the phone does get 3GB of RAM, but just 16GB of internal storage. It was rumoured that the phone will offer 32GB of internal storage. The storage however, can be upgraded via a micro-SD card and the phone supports upto 128GB of micro-SD cards. Also, dismissing all the previous rumors regarding the K4 Note sporting a Helio X10 SoC, the phone offers a MediaTek MT6753 SoC. While this is an upgrade compared to the last phone, the SoC is still nothing new in the price segment. The Coolpad Note 3 offers a similar spec sheet at a much lower price tag.
Unlike the K3 Note which had a more squarish stance, the K4 Note has a more curved design. The back of the phone is also curved and it is 3.2mm thin at its thinnest edge. The phone still has a plastic build and the rear cover is made of polycarbonate. However, besides the design, there's not much change in the spec sheet if the phone. Most of the specs of the phone are essentially the same as last year’s K3 note. The phone sports a 5.5-inch display which offers a 1080p resolution. Lenovo has added to dual front facing speakers to give users a stereo sound experience. The phone uses two 1.5W speakers which are enabled by Dolby Atmos Surround sound. HTC uses a similar speaker setup on its high end phones, called Boomsound. Lenovo says that the headphone jack is now a lossless audio combo jack. The phone comes with a 3-mic audio input which is aided by Wolfson WM821 audio codec. It comes with 3300 mAh battery which Lenovo claims will provide 22 hours talk-time on 4G.
On the optics front, the phone has a 13MP rear camera which supports phase detection autofocus. It is aided with the dual-colour LED flash. The camera lens has a f/2.2 aperture. The front-facing camera is a 5MP shooter. Below the camera, the phone also features a fingerprint sensor as well.
The other major announcement from Lenovo comes in the form of ANTVR, which is a VR headset for mobiles. Lenovo will be selling this VR headset for Rs. 1,299 in India. With the new VR headset, Lenovo has announced its new TheaterMax technology. According to Lenovo, TheaterMax can make any multimedia content immersive and gives the user an experience equivalent to a large screen cinematic experience, when viewed through a VR headset
“More than 50 percent of digital content is consumed on mobile devices today, and smartphones continue to be people’s’ primary personal entertainment device. We expect the proportion will continue to grow in the future and the expectations of newer, more sophisticated functionalities along with it. Lenovo TheaterMax, powered by Lenovo VR, sets us apart with our commitment to design cutting-edge smartphones that meet the needs of consumers at an extremely friendly price-point,” said Mr. Sudhin Mathur, Director- Smartphones, Lenovo Group.
