Expanding its smartphone portfolio, Lenovo has launched the K9 and the A5 smartphones in the budget segment. It has been more than a year that Lenovo has had a K-series smartphone, post the launch of the Lenovo K8 and Lenovo K8 Plus devices in September last year. The company says that it has undertaken a “yearlong study to understand the nuances of India’s thriving smartphone industry” and co-created the smartphone with Flipkart by leveraging the e-commerce platform’s data-driven research.
The 3GB RAM and 32GB storage variant of the Lenovo K9 will cost potential buyers Rs 8,999. It will be available in Blue and Black colours. The 2GB RAM and 16GB storage model of the Lenovo A5 is priced at Rs 5,999 and the 3GB + 32GB storage variant will cost Rs 6,999. the A5 will be available in Black and Gold colours.
“Over the past year, we have taken time to assess the robust India market to understand the changing dynamics of the Indian consumer through our partnership with Flipkart. Our extensive research says Indians want a seamless processor, great camera and sleek design among other things. We have witnessed that very few trusted brands actually provide these features with quality assurance and affordable pricing. The K9 and A5 have been co-created using Flipkart’s keen insights and taking into consideration our customers’ dynamic requirements,” Edward Chang, Vice President, Lenovo, said in a statement. Ajay Veer Yadav, Vice President, Mobiles, and Large Appliances, Flipkart said that the e-commerce platform is “delighted” to partner with Lenovo in their 2.0 journey in India.
The Lenovo K9 sports a 5.7-inch full-screen HD+ display with 18:9 aspect ratio. The smartphone has an aluminum alloy frame and is sandwiched between two 2.5D glasses. There is a fingerprint sensor and branding on the back panel. It is powered by an octa-core MediaTek MT6762 processor clocked at 2.0 GHz. The smartphone ships with a quadruple camera system — two on the back and other two on front. Both the dual-camera setup have 13MP primary lens and 5MP secondary sensor. Lenovo claims that both front and rear cameras can shoot bokeh shots, incorporate rapid autofocus and complemented by LED flashes. The Lenovo K9 houses a 3000mAh battery and runs on Android 8.1 Oreo.
The Lenovo A5 sports a 5.45-inch HD+ full-screen with 18:9 aspect ratio and 80.3 percent screen-to-body ratio. The smartphone offers three card slots: Two for Nano SIM cards and one for a MicroSD card. The smartphone is available in two variants: 2GB RAM and 16GB storage, and 3GB RAM and 32GB storage. The storage can be expanded up to 256GB memory via a MicroSD card. The smartphone is powered by a Quad-core MediaTek MT6739 processor clocked at 1.3 GHz and ships with a 4000mAh battery. The smartphone comes with a face unlock feature as well as a fingerprint recognition system.
