Lemon Mobiles intends to release what will supposedly be the most inexpensive 3G handset in India, priced at Rs. 3,500. Called the W100 3G, the phone will cater to the Indian masses, offering high-speed data transfers with a low initial cost.

Quite pragmatically, Sandeep Mushran from FCPL (Lemon Mobiles’ parent company) elaborated that though the phone is quite inexpensive, it will be the combination of phone features and data tariffs that will make the W100 3G truly appeal to the masses: “Though the 3G handset is attractively priced, its acceptance amongst our customers would also highly depend on the tariffs and pricing of 3G services. Currently, we have a wide range of products which are suitable for the Indian market and with the 3G handset we want to offer robust quality without being too expensive.”
The phone will apparently launch in a month’s time, and be sure to stay tuned to thinkdigit.com for some more details on its specifications. If you are wondering why they would launch a phone that’s being marketed as a 3G phone before 3G launches early next year, then know that Tata DOCOMO apparently has plans to launch 3G services around this Diwali season.
