Leaked iPhone 7 Plus cases show Smart Connector and dual-camera design
Again.
It’s that time of the year again, when we scamper for rumours about Apple’s new devices in the months leading to its launch. Now according to a report by 9to5Mac. latest case designs of the iPhone 7 Plus suggest that there will be a 3-pin Smart Connector at the back of the device, similar to the one seen on Apple’s iPad Pro, used to transfer both data and power. However, there does not seem to be much change in the frames of the two devices in comparison to the iPhone 6s or 6s Plus, and the frames are largely similar.
The Smart Connector on the iPad Pro was mainly used for attaching the Keyboard accessories, and also for attaching various docks. However, the iPhone 7 Plus is a much smaller device in comparison to the iPad Pro, so any keyboard accessories of about 6 inches in size won’t be of much use. Smart Battery covers and attachments for wireless charging make more sense.
Earlier, it was found that the Apple iPhone 7 Plus may house 3GB RAM and dual-camera imaging system boasting SLR-level photo quality with optical zoom, which will be a first for smartphones. With camera being a huge priority among iPhone buyers, there will expectedly be huge interest among buyers for this device.
In anticipation of this, Apple has reportedly ordered 78mn iPhone 7 units from suppliers, which is the highest production target in the past two years. This is rather ambitious, and is much higher than than analyst predictions. Tim Cook was recently quoted saying that Apple iPhone 7 will have features "you didn't know you need”.
We certainly hope so.
