Last year, it was reported that the upcoming Apple iPhone 16 series is expected to feature an additional capacitive button, internally known as the “Capture Button.” Now, a leaked case of the iPhone 16 Pro suggests the existence of this Capture Button.
The image of the iPhone 16 Pro’s case has been shared by @SonnyDickson on X (formerly known as Twitter).

The leaked case is see-through with rubber covering it all around. The power button has a rubber top, but the new Capture Button has a dedicated cutout.

The Capture Button is expected to be one of the main selling points of the iPhone 16 series.
Recently, 91mobiles shared CAD renders of the iPhone 16 Pro which also showed off the Capture Button.
Rather than a typical mechanical button, the Capture Button is anticipated to be a capacitive one. Unlike mechanical buttons, capacitive buttons do not move when pressed. Instead, the button uses haptic engines to detect pressure and touch and provide haptic feedback.
The Capture Button is meant to do more than just take pictures and videos. It will likely help you do cool stuff such as adjusting focus and zoom levels.
There is speculation that users will have to swipe left or right to zoom in and out, tap to focus, and press to start recording.
This new button placement could have a cool advantage for shooting landscape videos. It will likely make it easier to take pictures compared to using the volume buttons.
Right now, we should take all this information with a pinch of salt, but it looks like there are some exciting things coming our way for sure.
