Rumours of Apple ditching the 3.5mm audio jack on the iPhone 7 have been going on for a while. Now, images allegedly showing Apple’s EarPods with a Lightning connector have been posted by Dutch website, iphone7.nl. The earphones look pretty similar to regular EarPods, except for the lack of 3.5mm headphone jack.
Last week, it was reported by Macotakara that Apple may ship the new phone with standard set of 3.5mm EarPods along with a Lightning adapter. The inclusion of an adapter should hopefully make the transition to the new system much easier. Further, the report also noted that the space where the analogue audio jack is currently located would be replaced by another speaker, but the phone would still have a “monoaural” system instead of a stereo system. However, it should also be noted that Apple has not yet confirmed that the new iPhone 7 will use the Lightning Port instead of the headphone jack for audio.
Macotakara’s report also says that the new phone may offer 256GB of storage. This lines up with a report a few days ago which stated that the new iPhone would be available in three variants, and would offer a maximum of 256GB of storage, with base storage of 32GB.
