Intel is partnering with Lava to release the first Intel-based smartphone in India, sometime in the second quarter of 2012.
The chip giant also announced other new partners at MWC, such as ZTE and Orange, joining Lenovo and Motorola in their commitment to the new platform. Intel looks set to
The Intel-based Lava phone will be called XOLO X900, and will feature 4.03-inch touchscreen, a 1.6GHz single-core Medfield processor, and front and rear cameras.
Vishal Sehgal, Lava’s co-founder and director, spoke on the partnership:
“We are proud to partner with Intel on XOLO to bring a superior smartphone computing experience to customers in India.”
Paul Otellini, Intel’s CEO, issued a statement about its new partnerships, reading:
“We are very pleased to add new, important customers and capabilities to our phone offerings today. We remain focused on delivering exciting new features and outstanding performance to smartphone customers around the world.”
