Lava Iris X1 launched at Rs. 7,999; another Moto E rival?
The Iris X1 runs Android 4.4 KitKat and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Broadcom BCM23550 processor.
Lava has launched a new budget Android smartphone – Iris X1 – that's set to go head to head with the Motorola's newly launched Moto E and Micromax's Unite 2. Priced at Rs. 7,999, the Lava Iris X1 supports dual-SIM, runs Android 4.4 KitKat and is powered by a 1.2 GHz quad-core Broadcom BCM23550 processor with Videocore IV GPU along with 1 GB of RAM.
The Lava Iris X1 has a 4.5-inch display with (854 x 480 pixels) capacitive touchscreen IPS display. It has an 8MP rear camera and 2MP front camera. The smartphone has 4GB of internal storage, expandable memory up to 32GB via microSD. For connectivity, the X1 supports 3G HSPA , WiFi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth 4.0 LE and GPS. It is powered by an 1,800 mAh battery.
The smartphone is available in black and white colour option. Lava is offering a free intelligent Flip cover. The Iris X1 will be exclusively available via Amazon.in from May 27.

After the launch of Moto E, it was expected the local brands will soon launch their sub-8k smartphones with similar set of specifications. Micromax recently launched its Unite 2, featuring dual-SIM smartphone, sporting a 4.7-inch IPS display with 800 x 480 pixels resolution. It runs Android KitKat 4.4.2 (supports upgrades via FOTA) and is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core processor along with 1GB of RAM.
It'll be interesting to see when international brands come up with their sub-7 or 8k high spec'd smartphones.
