Lava has entered the quad-core budget smartphone race with the launch of the Iris 504q for Rs. 13,499.
Yet another smartphone has been launched in India which boasts of a quad-core processor and an HD display. The smartphone is called the Iris 504q and is made by Lava Mobiles. The smartphone runs on Android 4.2 Jelly Bean and is priced at Rs. 13,499.
In term of its specifications, the Iris 504q has a 5-inch display with a 1280×720 pixel resolution. The smartphone boasts of a slim design measuring in at 8.4-mm in thickness. The smartphone houses a 1.2GHz quad-core processor along with 1GB of RAM and 4GB built-in storage expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card. The rear of the smartphone has an 8MP camera with BSI sensor and the front has a 2MP video-calling camera. The smartphone comes with a 2,000mAh battery.
The Lava Iris 504q tries to bring something new to the tablet. It boasts of gesture control, as expected. Yes, you can wave your hand in front of the display for it to perform certain actions. The gesture control feature can be used for clicking photos, changing tracks on the music player and video player, tuning FM channels and browsing the gallery on the smartphone.
Lava has also partnered with Hungama to provide entertainment and VAS on the smartphone. These include Hungama’s Music Application and ‘LavaZone’ the storefront (Powered by Hungama.com) on Iris 504q. Here, the user gets access to over 2 million pieces of content across genres and languages, in the form of music tracks, music videos, trailers & dialogues; mobile content such as ringtones & wallpapers. Iris504q comes with some preloaded apps such as Opera web browser, Hungama Music App and Modern Combat HD from Gameloft.
