The 4G feature phone by Reliance Jio can now be purchased from Amazon, however, to activate the device, one will have to visit their nearest Reliance Digital or Jio Store with the JioPhone, its original box and provide their Aadhar number.
Reliance Jio recently gave MobiKwik the rights to sell its 4G feature phone and it can now be purchased from Amazon India as well. Priced at Rs 1,500, the JioPhone will be delivered to a customer but they will need to visit their nearest Reliance Digital or Jio Store, with the device, its original box and their Aadhar number for activation. After which, the buyer will be able to avail free data and calls from Jio by with a minimum recharge of Rs 49 per month. They will also get unrestricted access to the company’s apps like JioTV, JioMusic, JioMags and more.
the Facebook app was recently rolled out for the JioPhone, which can be downloaded via the JioStore. All new and existing JioPhone users can download the app and it supports push notifications, viewing video and opening external links as well. Jio says that it has been optimised for working on KaiOS, a forked version of Firefox OS, and supports browsing the social media website with a cursor function. Reliance Jio announced the device in July last year aiming to lure in feature phone users. It currently comes pre-installed with apps like JioTV, JioMusic, JioCinema and the company had promised of bringing support for popular social media apps like Facebook and Whatsapp for it.
Priced at Rs 1,500, the JioPhone is an effectively free device as customers will be refunded in full if they return it to the company after three years. It also features HelloJio, a voice assistant, which was replaced with a special version of the Google Assistant designed for the phone. Google’s intelligent assistant can also recognise Hindi voice command and display send messages, display recipes, play songs and more.
As mentioned earlier, Jio announced that the mobile phone can now be purchased via MobiKwik. It was the first platform, apart from the company's own channels, to sell the device.
