Well, that neatly sums up Sharp IS01. Its 149x83x17.9 inch frame is not as big as a netbook while its 1GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon processor and 5 inch, 960×480 capacitive touchscreen would put to shame most smartphones. It has the now-industry standard features including Wi-Fi 802.11 b / g, Bluetooth 2.1 EDR and a 5 MegaPixel snapper with internal memory of 4GB that is expandable via a microSD slot. It is a pretty looking device AND this is about as far as this article would make you salivate happily.
The device has only been released for now for developers in Japan. And this pretty dame comes with a tattered old Android 1.6 (we thought 1.6 was dead and buried!) and there’s a TV tuner thrown in that would only work in Japan. IS01 has been manufactured for the Japanese operator KDDI and would not be released internationally. But even if a sushi-munching friend of yours does get it for you, you would be able to run use only good-old Reliance CDMA for that is what this device was meant for. Beautiful pretty things often elude us, don’t they?
Oh! And did we mention that the huge capacitive touchscreen does not support multi-touch? Check out more pictures below:
