September is just a couple of months away and that means Apple is gearing up for a new iPhone launch. According to some new leaked images, obtained by 9to5Mac, we might see a similar build as the iPhone 6 in the upcoming product. In the detailed images of the metal casing, which have been leaked by a source associated with Apple’s supply chain, one can see that the phone looks pretty much the same. The phone showcases a similar metal frame as the current iPhone.
Most of the changes in the new iPhone are expected to be made internally, which means Apple may launch an incremental version to the current iPhone 6. Apple has done so in the past with the 4S and the 5S, which were were both incremental updates to the iPhone 4 and the iPhone 5 respectively. There were rumours about a smaller 4-inch iPhone at first, but there's no word on that yet.
While the metal shell looks pretty much the same, the leaked images show three holes at the back, seemingly for the camera, microphone and dual-LED flash. This means that there will be no dual-camera set up, which was rumoured earlier. Of course, all these are only rumours right now. Lately, many Android phones like the much lower priced Honor 6 Plus have been able surpass the iPhone camera. 9to5mac states that the mounting points positions for the logic board have also been changed suggesting a new logic board.
Meanwhile, port layout from the leaked images do not point towards a USB Type C port. Going by the images, the phone will have an almost identical port layout as the current iPhone 6. Apple has improved its iPhones with each new iteration and it might repeat that this year.
