Several iPhone users have flagged that they receive fake messages about undelivered parcels at India Post warehouses. These messages are sent from random accounts and contain fishy links. When users click on this link, they are asked to pay a small amount to confirm the delivery. Once a user pays that amount and enters their OTP, the scammers get hold of all of their sensitive data and even empty their bank accounts.

Please update your address details within 48 hours; otherwise, your package will be returned. Please update the address in the link: After the update is completed, we will re-deliver within 24 hours, India Post!”
To raise awareness for the same, The Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, through its cybersafety and cybersecurity awareness handle Cyber Dost, has issued a warning to Apple users about this scam. It was shared on its official X (formerly Twitter) handle. The post read:
“New Transnational #Scam Alert: #iPhone users are receiving scam messages via iMessage regarding packages from random accounts. Clicking on suspicious links may be avoided and read receipts may be disabled for such suspicious messages.”
