This is not the first time a smartphone caught fire. Recently, in India, we have seen some cases of OnePlus Nord’s explosions. Anyway, have you ever thought why does this happen? Well, let me tell you five reasons that could lead to a “smartphone explosion” or “smartphone fire”.
Third-Party Chargers: If you lose your charging cable or adapter for some reason, please avoid getting a duplicate one. Because the duplicate chargers can be dangerous, as they might not come with proper specifications. This could lead to overheating and damage to the smartphone as well as the battery.
Manufacturing Defects: This is one major reason behind smartphone explosions. A small defect in the battery assembly could lead to an explosion. This could happen because of the thermal runaway caused by the wrong assembly line.
Physical Damage: A slight damage to the battery can cause a short circuit. A drop usually damages your smartphone but if you are not in luck then it could damage the battery as well. It doesn’t stop here, there is a possibility that it can explode your smartphone. This is because of the altering of its internal mechanical or chemical structure.
Overcharging: Excessiveness in anything could lead to bad things, and so does here. Overcharging might cause overheating, short-circuit, and even an explosion. However, brands now feature a chip that holds the charging when the smartphone reaches 100%.
Processor Overload: The phone could heat up because of its processor, especially while you’re multitasking or running some heavy graphic applications. Now the issue is that if for any reason, the smartphone’s thermal paste, which is present to manage heat, fails, the phone could explode.
However, smartphone explosions are not that common. Speaking of iPhones, it is even more rare in Apple smartphones. To stay safe, just avoid these five things. Moreover, if anything happens to your smartphone, just go to the brand service centres and try to avoid third-party repairs.
