Apparently, the iPhone 3GS got an upgrade in download speeds (supporting 7.2Mbps now) but not in the upload department.
When
RapidRepair tore apart the device, they found a Universal Mobile Telecommunications System High-Speed Downlink Packet Access (UMTS HSDPA) chip – one of the older 3G chips, which can support maximum upload speeds of only 384kbps.
A lot of people have been noticing some features in the iPhone 3GS where Apple has been a bit stingy, like the recently reported battery issues. Clearly, the upgrade hasn’t been all that Apple’s touted it to be.
Still, complaints of upload speeds being “limited” to 384kbps is a bit annoying, especially when you consider that most broadband providers in India do not offer similar upload speeds on dedicated fibre-optic cable lines.
“We’re not a third-world country any more!” “India Shining!” “Our GDP stays above 6 even in a recession!” Great. Can we have true broadband now, please?
