Apple has re-launched the iPhone 3GS for just Rs. 19,990 in a bid to eat into the Android smartphone pie, after successfully unveiling the iPhone 4 locked to Airtel and Aircel operators. The re-launched iPhone 3GS only have 8GB storage but come factory unlocked, giving you the option to use it with a SIM from any of India’s telecom operators.
According to a TOI report, mobile phone retailers across Mumbai and Delhi are reporting available stocks of the “new” iPhone 3GS. For anyone who always desired to own an Apple iPhone, the 3GS is the most inexpensive option officially available in India — ever. The previous iPhones were all more expensive at launch.

A total of 33.3 million Android phones were shipped in Q4 2010, compared to merely 16.2 million iPhones, according to a January report from Canalys. With Google’s Android platform dominating global smartphone sales figure, Apple no doubt wants to open up the playing field by introducing the iOS device at its lowest price point ever and challenge Android’s supremacy. The re-launched Apple iPhone 3GS will directly compete with the likes of the Samsung Nexus S, Samsung Galaxy S i9003, and HTC Desire Z Android smartphones.
While the device is now exactly two years old — the iPhone 3GS was first unveiled in June 2009 — it still has something to offer for price sensitive buyers. Although the iPhone 3GS has a 600MHz processor and a 3.5-inch multitouch screen, it supports Apple’s latest iOS 4.3, and Apple has pledged support for its upcoming iOS 5 for the device.
The re-launched Apple iPhone 3GS is available in two colours: black and white.
