For a while now we’ve been hearing rumours about a “slimmer” iPhone model. If there’s any weight to these rumours, we might get to see the iPhone 17 Slim in 2025. With this new model, Apple is expected to have an ultra-thin design, in line with Apple’s recent push for lightweight and skinny devices like the MacBook Air and iPad Pro. As usual, Apple has not shared any details or cleared the air around this. But here’s everything that we know so far about the device
As we already know, the design is going to be the USP of the iPhone 17 Slim. It will carry an incredibly thin profile. Reports suggest that it can go further down the iPhone 16’s 7.8mm thickness and can come close to the iPad Air’s 6.1mm thickness. It can also feature a 6.6-inch OLED display with 120Hz ProMotion tech while reducing the size of the Dynamic Island cutout to maximise screen space.
The iPhone 17 Slim is expected to run on Apple’s next A19 chipset and can feature 8GB of RAM. On the camera front, we can expect a single 48MP camera and a 24MP selfie shooter.
If Apple sticks to its usual schedule, the iPhone 17 Slim should debut in September 2025 alongside the other iPhone 17 announcements. On the price front, it could exceed the $1,199 starting price of the Pro Max, as per the rumours.
With the introduction of the iPhone 17 Slim, Apple might say goodbye to the “Plus” series. Apple has been emphasising the “Air” series for some time now and this seems to be a step in that direction. It will be interesting to see how Apple materialises this concept.
