Only a few days are left when Apple will unveil its most-awaited iPhone 16 series. Apple has confirmed that it will launch the new iPhone lineup on September 9 during its Glowtime event. Now, you must be thinking whether Apple will change anything this time in its standard iPhone 16 or go with the same usual boring upgrades. Well, in this article, we are going to tell you about 16 things that are expected from the iPhone 16. Let’s go!
This year, Apple will primarily focus on AI. So, it might not see any hardware change, meaning the camera, battery, and display, all might stay the same as the iPhone 15.
Many rumours are surfacing on the internet, claiming that Apple can increase the display but only for the iPhone 16 Pro models. The iPhone 16 is expected to come with the same 6.1-inch OLED panel, sadly with 60Hz refresh rate support.
Now, it’s not like that nothing will change. Design is one big parameter that might change with the new iPhone 16. Currently, the camera module on iPhones is diagonal but with the standard iPhone 16 models, that will be changed to vertical camera modules, as per leaks. Now, this isn’t just a design change, there’s a reason behind it.
The reason is that new iPhones are said to support spatial video. This means that you will be able to record 3D videos with greater depth effects from the iPhone 16. To do this, the cameras have to be placed vertically.
The iPhone 16 will most likely feature the same cameras this year. Last year, the iPhone 15 introduced a 48-megapixel main camera, so I would suggest not to expect any hardware upgrade in cameras at all. It’s likely that you will get the same 48-megapixel main camera along with the 12-megapixel ultrawide lens. For selfies as well, it can sport a 12-megapixel selfie shooter.
With the iPhone 16 series, Apple is bringing its most powerful smartphone chipset yet, the A18. This chipset is expected to offer better photos and camera performance in the iPhone 16 because of its improved ISP.
So obviously better chip means better performance. iPhones are anyway so smooth and with the A18 chipset, you can expect even better performance on the iPhone 16. Apart from the performance, the A18 chip will impact other stuff too.
The A18 chip is based on 3nm architecture, which means it will be far more power efficient than the 4nm based A16 Bionic chip on the iPhone 15. This means, the battery life will be improved in the iPhone 16 as well.
The iPhone 16 is also expected to pack a bigger battery than the iPhone 15. Now, if this is true then you will get the double advantage with a bigger battery + better battery efficiency.
During the WWDC, Apple gave us a teaser of what we can expect on September 9. iPhone 16 will pack Apple Intelligence features. These features will only be available on the iPhone 15 Pro and Pro Max, the base variants won’t get it.
If you have doubts about whether Apple will give Siri a makeover or not, then you can check out the Apple event invite animation. It is exactly the same as the new Siri animation. And even the event is named “Glowtime”. So this clearly indicates that Siri will see a lot of changes.
So, Apple has made it pretty clear that the iPhone 15 can’t handle its AI features. In comparison to that, the iPhone 16 will be completely AI-ready. This is a major advantage as you will also get all the major OpenAI features on the iPhone 16 itself.
See, this honestly isn’t that big of a difference because the iPhone 15 will also have iOS 18, just like the iPhone 16. The only difference here is that it won’t have the AI-powered features that the new iPhone 16 will be able to run.
Again, this is not a massive upgrade, but the iPhone 16 will get 8GB RAM instead of the 6GB RAM on the iPhone 15. But it is kind of good too, it will improve the overall performance of the phone.
For the past three years, Apple hasn’t increased the prices of the iPhone in India. The iPhone 13, 14, 15 — all were launched at Rs 79,999. So, Apple might increase the price of the iPhone 16. However, as per rumours, the US price will be $799 this time too. This can mean that the Indian prices will remain constant too. Let’s wait and watch.
And lastly, the iPhone 16 can also have a new capture button. You will be able to click pictures with it, similar to a DSLR camera.
