This entire month has gone by with the iPhone frenzy. Finally, on September 20, the iPhone 16 series went on sale. A lot of excited Apple fans made sure that they grabbed the new iPhone 16 on the first day. But turns out the excitement was soon translated into disappointment. A large number of iPhone 16 Pro users are reporting a responsiveness issue on the iPhone 16 Pro handset.

Because of this issue, interactions such as scrolling, tapping buttons, and typing on the virtual keyboard, are all affected. From the looks of it, the issue seems to be more of a software bug rather than a hardware issue. It looks like iOS’ accidental touch rejection system is pretty sensitive. So it ends up even rejecting the genuine touches. The touch rejection system is mainly there to solve the unintentional touches issue.

iPhone 16 Pro touch issue

As per some reports, the issue is more prevalent around the new Camera Control icon which is on the right-hand side of the screen. When the problem occurs, the iPhone 16 Pro just ignores touches for a short time. It leads to missed taps and swipes.

Analysts believe that the reason behind this issue can be the fact that the iPhone 16 Pro carries thinner bezels this time. This makes it easier for a user’s skin to accidentally brush the edges of the display. The issue happens even more when people use their iPhone 16 Pro without the case, as fingers are more likely to rest on the screen borders.

Now, this issue has been happening with iPhones running both iOS 18 and the iOS 18.1 beta. However, it does not happen when the phone is on the lock screen. Apple is yet to release an official confirmation on this but let’s hope that it solves it with future iOS 18 updates.
