Apple recently unveiled the most awaited smartphone series of the year, the iPhone 15 series. People are still syncing it in and now we hear that Apple has already started to work on the next iPhone series. Even though nothing has been revealed from Apple yet, rumours and leaks have started to circulate on the internet. According to a new report, the iPhone 16 Pro models are expected to feature molded glass lenses.
According to a report by AppleInsider, the iPhone 16 Pro and Pro Max smartphone models could feature molded glass lenses in order to reduce camera bump thickness and weight while increasing magnification distance.

The news was first reported by Economic Daily News. Some earlier news hinted that the iPhone 16 Pro might have a 120 mm Telephoto camera because the device could be bigger. Using thinner and lighter molded glass could make it easier to include this camera.

Molded lenses could make things look bigger without being bulky. So, Apple might keep the 24 mm and 120 mm focal lengths but use thinner lenses. This would save space, especially on the smaller iPhone 16 Pro.
As making molded lenses is tricky, manufacturers are already preparing for the iPhone 16 Pro lineup. Apple has a strong grip on supply chain orders, but other companies might also try to use molded lenses, as it’s becoming a trend, the report said.
Earlier, it was reported that the tetraprism lens with up to 5x optical zoom, which is currently exclusive to the iPhone 15 Pro Max model, is expected to expand to both the iPhone 16 Pro and iPhone 16 Pro Max next year.
