Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo further backed this by saying that Apple might replace the iPhone Plus with an iPhone Slim.
According to Kuo, the iPhone 17 Slim might not be a direct replacement for the Plus variant but can be an entirely new addition.
We are just a few days away from Apple announcing its latest iPhone 16 series. The “Glowtime” event will take place on Monday, September 9. Apple is expected to unveil four new iPhone 16 variants: the vanilla iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and the iPhone 16 Pro Max, just like last year. But this launch can be the last time that we see a “Plus” model.
What do we know about iPhone 17 Slim?
Various media reports suggest that in 2025, with the iPhone 17 series, we might not see an iPhone 17 Plus. This is possible as Apple might switch to the Plus variant with the new “ iPhone 17 Slim ”. This will be a major change from the variants that Apple offers. Analyst Ming-Chi Kuo further backed this by saying that Apple might replace the iPhone Plus, which was launched as a larger-sized base model option with the iPhone 14 lineup and will be removed from the iPhone 17 lineup. Instead, we might get an iPhone 17 Slim.
This can be similar to how Apple replaced the iPhone mini with the Plus. This move could reportedly be part of Apple’s strategy to renew users’ interest in its standard iPhones, which have been overshadowed by the popularity of the premium Pro models in recent years.
According to Kuo, the iPhone 17 Slim might not be a direct replacement for the Plus variant. It can be an entirely new addition. This can be aimed at those iPhone users who prioritise aesthetics and design over the advanced camera features found in the Pro versions.
As per analysts Jeff Pu and Ross Young of Display Supply Chain Consultants, the iPhone 17 Slim will obviously be slimmer and will be more design-focused. It can pack a 6.6-inch display.
But let’s take this news with a pinch of salt as there’s really a lot of time before this happens.
