It is the upgraded version of the Qi charging standard. It was announced earlier in 2023 by the Wireless Power Consortium (WPC). Qi2 works the same way as the MagSafe which uses a magnetic support for proper and efficient wireless charging.
Qi2 will be following the same method as well. This results in better energy consumption as the phone receives maximum power. Hence, the iPhone 15 series will be compatible with the Qi2 charging standard which is expected to be significantly cheaper than MagSafe. It is almost one-third the cost compared to Apple's MagSafe charger. Currently the MagSafe charger costs around ₹4,900.
