iPhone 15 is facing these issues with USB-C power banks
HIGHLIGHTS

Apple introduced a USB-C port to the iPhone 15 lineup this year.

USB-C port allows iPhone 15 smartphone to work with USB-C cables, USB-C power banks, and more.

However, according to a new report, some USB-C battery packs are not working properly with Apple's ‌iPhone 15‌, resulting in charging issues.

Apple recently launched its iPhone 15 smartphone series. Apple’s latest iPhone series boasts significant design enhancements, notably the introduction of the long-awaited USB Type-C port. In contrast, the iPhone 14 series featured a lightning port. Apple claims that you can charge your iPhone 15 phones with any USB Type-C. However, according to a new report, some USB-C power banks failed to work with the iPhone 15.

According to a report by MacRumors, while Apple introduced a USB-C port to its iPhone 15 lineup to enable compatibility with USB-C cables, USB-C power banks, and other accessories, some USB-C power banks are experiencing compatibility issues with the iPhone 15, leading to charging problems.

As highlighted on Reddit and the MacRumors forums, not all USB-C power banks can be used with the ‌iPhone 15‌ smartphone models, possibly because of the iPhone’s reverse charging feature.

Sometimes the iPhone 15 won’t charge, and other times it will charge the power bank, according to the report.

Various power banks appear to be impacted by this issue, and given the wide variety available on the market, it’s challenging to compile a list of non-functional models. One example of an affected power bank is the Anker PowerCore Slim 10K PD. When a customer reached out to Anker for assistance, the company advised that the only way to charge the iPhone is by using the USB-A port on the power bank.

“It seems that due to the iPhone 15 series’ reverse charging function, the USB C’s port charging of Anker PowerCore Slim 10k PD will be influenced, which does not have a solution currently. The only way to get your iPhone charged is to use the USB A port,” Anker said.

“Anker will do more tests on all of our power banks to see whether this is the issue with certain power banks and try to get a solution,” it added.

It’s possible that some power banks are being affected by the iPhone 15 models’ ability to charge an Apple Watch, AirPods, or another iPhone via the USB-C port. While the majority of USB-C power banks equipped with Power Delivery appear to function as expected, including several models tested by MacRumors, iPhone 15 owners need to be cautious as there is a possibility of incompatibility with some power banks.
