While Apple is still rolling out the latest iOS 18 update, rumours and leaks about the next major update, iOS 19, are already circulating online. According to a new report, iOS 19 is expected to be announced at Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference (WWDC) in June 2025. The good news for iPhone users is that Apple is not planning to drop support for any iPhone models with this update.

iOS 19 supported devices

As per a report from French website iPhoneSoft.fr, iOS 19 will be compatible with all iPhones currently running iOS 18. This means it will support the latest iPhone 16 series, including the iPhone 16, iPhone 16 Plus, iPhone 16 Pro, and iPhone 16 Pro Max. Additionally, iPhones from the iPhone 15 series (iPhone 15, iPhone 15 Plus, iPhone 15 Pro, and iPhone 15 Pro Max) will also be supported.

Older models like the iPhone 14 series (iPhone 14, iPhone 14 Plus, iPhone 14 Pro, and iPhone 14 Pro Max), iPhone 13 series (iPhone 13, iPhone 13 mini, iPhone 13 Pro, and iPhone 13 Pro Max), and iPhone 12 series (iPhone 12, iPhone 12 mini, iPhone 12 Pro, and iPhone 12 Pro Max) will also be eligible for the update. Even the iPhone 11 series, which includes the iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro, and iPhone 11 Pro Max, will get iOS 19.

In addition, older models such as the iPhone XS, iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, and iPhone SE (2nd generation and later) will be compatible with iOS 19. This continued support for older devices is a positive sign, as it marks the second consecutive year that Apple has not dropped any iPhone models with its major iOS release.

For iPad users, the news isn’t as good. iPadOS 19 is expected to drop support for the iPad 7 (2019), but other iPads running iPadOS 18 will remain compatible with the new update.

iOS 19 release date

Apple is likely to release the first beta versions of iOS 19 and iPadOS 19 during WWDC 2025 in June, with the full updates expected to roll out in September.

While specific features of iOS 19 are still under wraps, there’s speculation that Siri will become more conversational, similar to ChatGPT, with this feature possibly arriving in iOS 19.4 around March 2026.
