It hasn’t even been six months since Apple announced the iPhone 16 series. Along with that it also released iOS 18 and Apple Intelligence. Sub-versions of iOS 18 have also started to roll out now. However, the internet is never satisfied and has been hunting for rumours and leaks for next year’s iOS 19. As a result, the internet has gotten some information about Apple’s next big software update. Just like this year, it can be announced at WWDC 2025 in June. We expect that it can go heavier on AI, other than that, here’s everything that we know so far.
The chatter online suggests that iOS 19 will include an upgraded LLM-powered Siri. This version of Siri will leverage large language models to deliver more human-like interactions, offering capabilities similar to ChatGPT and Google Gemini. Further, the revamped Siri will also be integrated with the App Intents system. This will allow for precise control of third-party apps. Apple’s focus on privacy will try to ensure that this in-house AI system is secure compared to other generative AI platforms.
However, in a classic Apple move, it is expected that the LLM Siri will not be available at launch even though it will be announced, just like Apple Intelligence this year. Media reports suggest that Apple’s ongoing work on iOS 18 projects has pushed several iOS 19 features to later updates like iOS 19.4, expected in 2026.
iOS 19 is expected to be compatible with all devices compatible with iOS 18. This includes models starting from the iPhone XR and XS to the latest iPhone 16 series, along with the 2nd and 3rd-gen iPhone SE. However, some advanced features will remain exclusive to newer models.
Timeline:
Like I mentioned above, iOS 19 can be announced during WWDC 2025 in June. A public beta is then expected in July and the final release will most likely take place along with the iPhone 17 series.
