Intex launches 4.5-inch Aqua Wonder Quadcore at Rs. 9,990

Intex has entered the quad-core budget smartphone war with the launch of the Aqua Wonder Quadcore. The smartphone has the MediaTek MT6589 SoC along with a 4.5-inch qHD display

Intex has finally launched its own budget quad-core budget smartphone and is looking to take on the likes of Micromax A116 Cavnvas HD, Xolo Q800, WickedLeak Wammy Titan II, Karbonn Smart Titanium S1 and S5, and other recently launched devices in the segment. Called the ‘Intex Aqua Wonder Quadcore’ (not ‘Intex Aqua Wonder 2’ as previously expected), it is a sub-Rs. 10k device priced at Rs. 9,990.

The Intex Aqua Wonder Quadcore boasts of dual-SIM capabilities and has a 4.5-inch qHD display. It has the quad-core MediaTek MT6589 SoC with 512MB of RAM. It has a meagre 1.93GB of built-in storage expandable up to 32GB via a microSD card. It also houses an 8MP rear facing camera and a 2MP front facing camera for video calling. An 1800mAh battery powers the entire package and it runs on Android 4.1 Jelly Bean.

On paper, the specifications of the Intex Aqua Wonder Quadcore are the same as the Xolo Q800 with the difference being that the Q800 has more built-in storage. The Xolo Q800 is also priced higher at Rs. 12,499.

The quad-core race has started picking up in India now that we have three devices on sale, the Canvas HD, Q800 and the Aqua Quadcore, that boast of the MediaTek MT6589 SoC. We have also seen the announcement of the Jiayu G4 that also boasts of the MediaTek MT6589 SoC. The G4 Basic is priced under the Rs. 10,000 mark and is a direct competitor to the Intex Aqua Quadcore.
