Hong Kong-based smartphone manufacturer Infinix is set to debut the world’s first MediaTek Helio G99-powered smartphone. The company hasn’t divulged information about which specific phone will house the new chipset other than the fact that it will be a Note 12 series smartphone. MediaTek launched the Helio G99 SoC last month alongside the Dimensity 930 and Dimensity 1050 chipsets.

The Helio G99 chipset is fabricated on TSMC’s 6 nm process. The chipset is an octa-core one consisting of 2x Cortex A-76 cores clocked up to 2.2 GHz and 6x Cortex A-55 cores clocked up to 2 GHz. The processor is packing a Mali-G57 MC2 GPU to handle tasks such as gaming and video editing. The SoC, however, only supports 4G/LTE connectivity.
While we don’t have any specific details about the upcoming Infinix Note 12 series smartphone which will carry this SoC, we do have the chipset’s specifications that can help us make some deductions. The SoC is rated to drive up to 120 Hz refresh rate displays with a maximum resolution of 2520 x 1080. While we cannot comment on the resolution the phone may have, chances are we may get a 120 Hz or at least a 90 Hz refresh rate display. The chipset also supports LPDDR4X RAM and UFS 2.2 storage speeds, so that’s what we can expect on the phone.
The Helio G99 supports up to 108 MP cameras and a dual 16 MP configuration for selfie cameras. We may see a high megapixel count rear camera on the upcoming Infinix Note 12 series smartphone.
As for the price, there are no hints or indications so far, however, Infinix suggests that we may be privy to some information about the upcoming phone soon.
