Our lives have been minimised and stored in our smartphones, small world-ain’t they? But now sadly we are all so addicted to our smartphones that life without it seems unreal. Most of us are so annoyed by this smartphone obsession as it has its own negative impacts too. It can lead to various health issues, including vision problems, sleep disturbances, and neck pain. Taking all these into account, a lot of GenZs and even millennials have decided to ditch their smartphones for, guess what, dumbphones!

Yes, you heard that right. Owing to the many negative impacts of smartphones, a lot of people are now switching to dumbphones. Dumbphones are the older generation phones that don’t have the “smart” features. You can access basic features like voice calls and text messaging, but it does not have high-tech games, social media applications, and other addictive apps. So it means a detox in the true sense.
As per a CNBC report, there is an increasing trend of people opting for dumbphones to avoid the distractions of social media. Many retailers in the US have reported a sudden surge in demand for these basic phone models. Much of this also has to do with the negative impacts of social media.

A recent study by Harvard University, reveals that using social networking sites triggers the same part of the brain activated by addictive substances. People have started to understand that hence the switch.
