IMImobile and IL&FS launch “English Seekho” on mobiles – Rs. 30/month
IMImobile and IL&FS Education & Technology Services Limited started signing people up yesterday for their ‘English Seekho’ program on mobiles. The ‘English Seekho’ initiative has been introduced with an intent of teaching spoken English to the non- native speaker, and the companies promise to deliver a complete & comprehensive learning solution.
IMImobile and IL&FS have taken the initiative to remove communication barriers and make the experience of learning the English language easy and comprehensive, so that casual lessons can enable non-native English speakers to effectively grasp skills of spoken English. This most effective and interactive way to learn English language is targeted to address the problems faced by non-native English speakers like junior level clerks, traders, unskilled laborers, frontline staff, taxi drivers, restaurant waiters, farmers and the many others who face problems understanding the English language and conversing in it. The course content is said to be available for users proficient with any of the following seven Indian languages – Hindi, Tamil, Kannada, Marathi, Bengali, Telugu and Malayalam. The course is also expected to provide grammar lessons through SMS to its users.
IMImobile claims to provide an immersive, innovative and highly interactive IVR lesson that allows users to learn and practice lessons instantaneously. It is will also provide a testing session at the end of each lesson to ensure a positive learning outcome. The course structure is said to incorporate 10 chapters and 44 lessons with one lesson scheduled per day, with a length of 5 to 8 minutes. The curriculum seems to provide a special focus on interviews, hunting jobs and on job training. The total length of the program is quoted as 350 minutes. The range of service offerings promise to include: focusing on social English speaking on various occasions with various people, interactive IVR lessons along with practice and recall sessions based on multiple choice questions.
To kick-start this application the user needs to call the IVR number and select the language of their convenience. Then they need to select the specific sub-sections of their choice. This application is presently available at a subscription cost of Rs. 30 per month and a call browsing charge of 30 paise per minute.
